POYNTING – Out And About

Thank you to our partners Vitriko (Spain), Know IT (Italy) and Crossover (Las Vegas) for representing us and showing our products in Europe and North America. Thank you to MCS for partnering with POYNTING again at their “Knowledge Session” in Rotterdam.

KnowIT

KnowIt was at Smart Building Levante in Bari, Italy from 22-23 November 2018. They exhibited the POYNTING broadband antennas that are ideal for a stable and reliable LTE/4G connection in your building. Whether you use it as your main or back up connection, a reliable high-end antenna is crucial. Thank you to Riccardo Cavalierri and his Team for representing us.

VITRIKO

VITRIKO is based in Alicante, Spain and provides Smart Solutions for IoT applications. They exhibited our Marine Antennas at Salón Náutico International in Barcelona from 10 – 14 October 2018. The POYNTING OMNI-402 is a 2×2 MiMo marine and coastal antenna that was very well received by people visiting the stand. This antenna covers a very wide band from 450MHz–2700MHz, which means it can be used in all parts of the world, and it is ideal for marine and coastal applications.

Crossover

This year, the WISPAPALOOZA annual show was very successful for Crossover. They invested in doubling their booth size to showcase more products and incorporate live demos. With the additional space, they brought in a non-buried monopole with a 50ft pole from ARE Telecom. This was a major attraction for them as it was their show giveaway, to the value of approximately $7500 USD.  Over the course of the show, Crossover retained 265 qualified prospects.

Two of their Sales Directors were able to attend, Carey Gibson who supervises North American sales, and Jason Heath whose focus is USA sales. Both have confirmed that this year had a great turnout. As a team, they look forward to driving more business with the leads obtained from the show. While our products aren’t of interest to the broad fixed wireless wisp market, there were specialised partners in the IoT and M2M verticals that were very intrigued by POYNTING’s solutions. These VARs and OEM players were particularly intrigued by the MIMO-3 on display, the mobile multi-band antenna.

MCS Knowledge Sessions (MCS)

It is becoming a tradition that MCS and POYNTING invite partners to the well-known “MCS Knowledge Sessions” on antenna technologies and GSM/LTE networks in Rotterdam.

This time more than 40 representatives of various companies (end-users to system integrators and telecom network operators) joined us for the session “Meten = Weten” (Measuring = Knowing). We covered subjects like antennas, routers, radio frequencies and how do you realize the most stable and optimal mobile connection.

The antenna is the most crucial and critical element in your wireless solution.

The POYNTING antennas ensure that a stable, reliable and clean connection is established between the transmitter (often a base-station or access point) and the receiver (often a SIM-Card router).

The antenna performance is critical for any wireless connection, which will contribute to your bottom-line. The consequential costs of communications failure are much larger than the cost of the antenna. The cost of an installation alone often exceeds the antenna price (due to recalls & reinstalls etc.).

The wireless world becomes more and more complex and operators are using a larger variety of frequencies in parallel/simultaneously to exchange larger packages of information in shorter times between receiving and transmitting entities. This requires (ultra-) wideband antennas which provide a balanced performance across all frequencies. POYNTING specializes in these kinds of broadband antenna solutions.

During the session tips were provided for the following:

  • how to choose the right antenna for your application,
  • what influences the performance of your total solution,
  • how can you ensure that your installation is future proof and will be able to cope well with carrier aggregation,
  • what elements are cluttering signals
  • and how to read and understand technical specifications like gain, radiation patterns etc.

The invited guests were very interested during the presentation, challenging questions were asked, and discussions were held in the corridors about projects and challenges in the field.

Wim and Frank from MCS shared their technical knowledge about radio spectrum, frequencies, structure and operation of Low Power (LoRa) and 4G networks, measurement parameters for quality networks.

We want to thank MCS for arranging this session and for everyone attending and presenting.
