Short Summary

Poynting Antennas is seeking a motivated and hands-on Field Application Technician to support our technical and sales teams in the field. The ideal candidate will assist with the installation, testing, and troubleshooting of Poynting’s antenna products, providing essential technical support to customers and ensuring successful deployment of our solutions. This role is ideal for someone with a technical background looking to gain practical experience in RF engineering and telecommunications.

Key Responsibilities

Field Installation & Support

  • Assist with the installation and setup of Poynting antennas and related equipment at customer sites.
  • Provide on-site technical support, ensuring that products are correctly installed and fully operational.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve basic technical issues during and after installation, escalating complex problems to senior engineers as needed.
  • Conduct field tests and measurements to verify the performance of installed systems.

Customer Interaction

  • Act as a point of contact for customers during on-site visits, answering basic technical questions and providing support as needed.
  • Collect feedback from customers on their experience with Poynting products and report findings to the sales and product management teams.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with customers, ensuring they feel supported and informed throughout the installation process.

Technical Support & Training

  • Provide first-line technical support to customers and internal teams, assisting with basic troubleshooting and product usage questions.
  • Support the preparation and delivery of product demonstrations and technical presentations to customers.
  • Participate in training sessions to stay updated on Poynting’s product offerings and RF technologies.

Sales Support & Collaboration

  • Work closely with the sales team to ensure that technical aspects of customer inquiries are addressed promptly and accurately.
  • Assist in preparing technical documentation, such as installation guides and user manuals, to support customer needs.
  • Help organize and participate in trade shows, conferences, and other marketing events as needed.

Product Testing & Feedback

  • Conduct basic tests and trials of new products in the field, providing feedback to the product development team.
  • Assist with the collection and analysis of data from field tests to support product improvements and marketing efforts.

Special Projects & Trials

  • Conduct and support special projects, customer trials, and case studies to demonstrate the performance and suitability of Poynting products.
  • Collect and analyze data from field measurements to strengthen technical material and support marketing efforts.

Administration and Reporting

  • General correspondence and administration completed accurately and timeously.
  • Email, inbox and data managed timeously and effectively.
  • Professional image maintained in all communication.
  • All reporting and feedback requirements met, and reports completed accurately and timeously, according to company requirements.
  • Adhere to departmental processes and standard operating procedures.
  • Supply statistics and information as requested.

Qualification & Experience

  • Diploma or equivalent qualification in Electronic Engineering, Telecommunications, or a related technical field.
  • Basic understanding of RF engineering and telecommunications technologies.
  • Previous experience in a technical support or field technician role is an advantage but not required.
  • Strong technical aptitude with a willingness to learn and develop new skills.
