Short Summary

Poynting Antennas is seeking a versatile and dynamic Technical Sales Support Engineer to serve as a central figure in both technical support and sales initiatives. This role is critical in providing expert technical consultation, supporting internal and external sales strategies, and enhancing the customer experience by ensuring that Poynting’s products are aligned with customer needs and market demands. The ideal candidate will be adept at translating technical requirements into effective solutions, driving business growth, and promoting our products through various marketing and promotional activities.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Expertise & Solution Design

  • Provide technical support to Poynting’s customers, sales teams, and regional business units regarding all aspects of RF engineering, telecom technologies, and Poynting products.
  • Design and propose antenna solutions that meet customer needs and align with Poynting’s offerings.
  • Conduct technical presentations and product demonstrations to prospective customers, simplifying complex concepts for diverse audiences.
  • Offer ongoing technical support and guidance to customers, ensuring they can effectively utilize our technology.

Sales & Marketing Support

  • Collaborate with sales teams to develop strategies that achieve sales targets, respond to RFIs, RFPs, and RFQs, and promote Poynting’s products at trade shows, conferences, and industry events.
  • Create technical marketing materials, including webinars, presentations, white papers, case studies, and FAQs.
  • Participate actively in blogs, forums, social media, and online communities to increase brand awareness and engage with target audiences

Customer Interaction & After-Sales Services

  • Act as a central point of contact for customer inquiries, providing first-line technical support and resolving any issues that arise during pre and post-sales processes.
  • Maintain and build strong relationships with customers and partners, ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction and retention.
  • Support regional Sales Account Managers with sales and marketing activities and assist in organizing and participating in tradeshows and conferences.

Training & Knowledge Transfer

  • Develop and provide technical training for internal sales teams, customers, and distribution partners, ensuring effective knowledge transfer and product understanding.
  • Enhance the existing Poynting Certification Training program, creating new training materials and improving the overall training experience.

Product Management Support

  • Conduct market and product research to inform product management and sales strategies, ensuring that Poynting remains at the forefront of industry trends and customer needs.
  • Gather and communicate customer feedback to the product development team to support future product enhancements and innovations.

Special Projects & Trials

  • Conduct and support special projects, customer trials, and case studies to demonstrate the performance and suitability of Poynting products.
  • Collect and analyze data from field measurements to strengthen technical material and support marketing efforts.

People Management

  • Ensuring appropriate leadership and direction of the department
  • Coaching, mentoring and motivation of the team
  • Conduct performance reviews in line with company standards and ensure that each team member has an individual development plan/career plan
  • Ensure team is fully equipped and received training as identified
  • Maintain team discipline and deal with matters timeously and fairly
  • Ensure the team is living the company values, mission and vision and that HR policies and procedures are adhered to.
  • Provide regular feedback & reporting on staff related matters

Administration and Reporting

  • General correspondence and administration completed accurately and timeously.
  • Email, inbox and data managed timeously and effectively.
  • Professional image maintained in all communication.
  • All reporting and feedback requirements met, and reports completed accurately and timeously, according to company requirements.
  • Adhere to departmental processes and standard operating procedures.
  • Supply statistics and information as requested.

Qualification & Experience

  • BSc / BEng / BTech in Electronic Engineering, Telecommunications, or a related field. 3 – 4 years’ experience.
  • 3-5 Years of Management experience within a Technical team.
  • Currently managing a team for 3-5 years.
  • Proven experience in technical sales, technical support engineering, or a related role. 5 – 10 years’ experience.
  • Strong technical consultation experience with a focus on RF engineering and telecom technologies.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • High degree of computer literacy and familiarity with relevant industry software.
  • An interest in telecommunication and antenna technology is highly desirable.
