We took the time to find out a bit more about John van Nijnatten, the co-founder and owner of MCS.
What did you study?
I have been studying at the Rotterdam University, to obtain my Bachelor degree in Economics and Linguistics.
How long have you been doing what you are doing?
I founded MCS in 1997 and since then, I have remained the owner, founder and CEO of the company.
What are your hobbies?
I have many hobbies, among them many different sports activities, family and friends, travelling around the globe, cruising around with my boat.
Do you have children? How many?
I have 2 beautiful daughters, Indy who is 11 years old, and my 17-year-old, Flore.
Any interest in sport?
I have a keen interest in endurance type of sports. In winter, I enjoy ice skating. Three days ago, I did the challenging ‘Alternateve Elfstedentocht’ in Weissensee, Austria (weissensee.nl), which consists of a 200 km ice skate in roughly 10 hours. In summer, I like cycling, running and hiking, among them a few marathons and hiking up Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania.
What is your favourite food?
Braai with a beer or Italian with red wine or Thai food with white wine.
Your favourite place to go on holiday?
Africa is the nicest continent to visit and I loved South Africa, as well as Namibia. There are so many other nice places around the globe that I’ve been to, or that I would love to visit in the future.
What would you change in your life (if anything)?
I am very happy with the way things are, especially on a personal level with family and friends. Business wise, with a very good, professional team in an area where we can really contribute to a ‘smarter world’.

As a technology specialist and Value Added Distributor, MCS facilitates its business partners with (industrial) IoT solutions and private communication networks. We supply hardware with a specialization in mobile and LPWan networks. We offer managed services, managed connectivity and managed platforms in order to help our customers to roll-out IoT applications.
Our development team helps customers with custom made software applications and integrations. Poynting antennas are an important part of this process in order to have the best possible coverage for the critical IoT applications that we deliver.
With a professional team in Rotterdam and Brussels of 20 people, we try every day to make our customers happy and to make the world smarter.
