We all know the famous scene on the left — Forrest Gump rushing through the battlefield to rescue his friend Bubba. It’s dramatic, emotional… and pure Hollywood. Now, on the right, we see the real-world version of rescue in 2025—smarter, faster, and without putting more lives at risk. Thanks to ARX Robotics and some powerful tech behind the scenes, battlefield rescue has taken a giant leap forward.
ARX Robotics, a pioneering German-based technology company, is reshaping the way battlefield and disaster-zone rescues are conducted. Their flagship vehicle—the GEREON RCS—is a modular, unmanned ground platform capable of transporting up to 500 kg, performing critical missions ranging from MedEvac and logistics to training simulations, surveillance, and threat detection.
Born from the real-world experiences of its military veteran founders, ARX Robotics was created with one mission: to reduce the number of lives lost during the extraction of injured personnel. The result is an autonomous, rugged, and compact system designed to operate in dangerous and unpredictable environments—without putting additional personnel at risk.
Battlefield extraction is one of the most dangerous tasks in military operations. Traditional rescue missions risk additional lives, especially in remote or high-conflict areas where visibility, communication, and coordination are compromised. ARX Robotics recognised that existing solutions lacked the agility, autonomy, and reliability needed to support rapid-response operations.
To enable remote control and autonomous navigation over long distances and rough terrain, the vehicle needed a communication system that was as resilient and adaptable as the machine itself. This meant stable, high-speed wireless connectivity, real-time GPS tracking, and built-in redundancy to ensure uninterrupted performance in mission-critical scenarios.
After extensive field testing, ARX Robotics integrated POYNTING’s PUCK-5 antenna—a compact, high-performance, 5-in-1 antenna that meets the exact demands of autonomous vehicle operations.
Why the PUCK-5 stood out:
Installed in a dual-module configuration, the PUCK-5 provided redundancy—ensuring continuous operation, even if one unit experienced disruption. This is especially crucial in missions that rely on uninterrupted communications for navigation and control.
The integration of PUCK-5 antennas has significantly enhanced ARX Robotics’ MedEvac capabilities. With reliable cellular and Wi-Fi communication, operators maintain real-time visibility and control, even beyond line-of-sight. The result is a dramatic reduction in response time, improved safety for injured personnel, and zero added risk to human responders.
The GEREON RCS platform, powered by PUCK-5, now plays an essential role in mission planning and execution across military, disaster-response, and training environments—where timing and precision can mean the difference between life and death.
The collaboration between ARX Robotics and POYNTING demonstrates the value of combining practical experience with technological innovation. As autonomous systems become more prevalent in high-risk environments, connectivity remains the backbone of their reliability—and PUCK-5 delivers.
