Cape Town Marathon streamed with #POYNTING antennas
The 42.2km a Cape Town Marathon took place on 20 October 2023. This prestigious global city race is open to a whole spectrum of running enthusiasts from elite athletes to social runners. Along the scenic route, they experience multiple views of Table Mountain, the Atlantic Ocean, historic landmarks, as well as many famous attractions and the hustle and bustle of Woodstock. This high-profile event gets livestreamed to viewers around the globe.

In this instance they combined 4 x LPDA-92s and EPNT-2s with a combination of the RUTX12, RUTX14 and RUTX50 to offer live video streaming at the event. The LPDA-92 is a high-gain, wideband, directional antenna covers all international cellular, mobile and wireless data bands including GSM 900/ GSM1800/UMTS/LTE band. Four of these were mounted at +-45 degree angles.
They also used two EPNT-4 antenna enclosures that each contains four cross-polarised cellular antennas, with two uni-directional antennas offering a peak gain of 11 dBi and two omni-directional antennas with a peak gain of 5 dBi. These enclosures also offer the additional benefit of a 3 to 7dB improvement when using an ePoynt antenna as the modem or router are fitted right behind the antenna which cuts out cable loss.
