Busy Time For POYNTING

We have had a busy 2019 so far! After the successful release of our PUCK antenna series, our developers are hard at work designing and developing our HELI range specifically designed for mining and tunnel applications. Rural Wireless Connectivity – A big problem with a simple solution? – Keith Bloomer

Mobile wireless technology has progressed at almost breakneck speed in Europe. From the original basic voice only TACS systems that were originally rolled out in the middle of the 1980’s, to the new generation of 5G networks promising download speeds quicker than Leroy Sane running down the wing!

But as technology progresses there are more and more reports of non-urban areas of Europe being left behind by the mobile operators – poor coverage, slow download speeds, and unreliable connection are all common complaints. Could antenna technology and selection play a part in improving the so-called ‘digital divide’?

POYNTING – Out And About

Keith Bloomer, Tjeerd Huitema and Juan Potgieter from POYNTING have been doing quite a bit of travelling lately. Keith attended an M2M/IoT exhibition in France, Tjeerd attended a Gamma conference in Poland and Juan visited some of our POYNTING partners in Australia. Engineer Victoria (Birgitte Hjort Sørensen), who was involved in the development of new drones, is taken hostage by terrorists in her own home. This is the prelude to a series of disturbing events culminating in a large-scale terrorist attack in Scandinavia. The Danish and Swedish secret services are working feverishly to prevent the catastrophe. An important role is set for the POYNTING cross-polarised directional MIMO cellular XPOL-2 antenna. Set in a rural area somewhere in the southern parts of Sweden the POYNTING antenna ensures communications for the remote object.
