Underground communication systems perform a vital role in the safety & productivity of mining and tunnelling operations. Modern underground operations use communication systems to enable secure voice communications, locate both people and machinery, remote control of vehicles and systems, as well as site access and security. A crucial component of the underground communication system is the antenna; a specialized antenna can enhance wireless connectivity significantly.

POYNTING Antennas has a long history of designing and supplying specialist antennas for mining and tunnel communication systems. We manufacture a complete Wi-Fi and LTE range of antennas that are used in mines internationally. Our circular polarised range of helical antennas are especially effective in this environment.

HELI SERIES

CIRCULAR POLARISED, MINE/TUNNEL ANTENNAS

The HELI series are circular polarised antennas that are specifically designed for mining & tunnelling applications. The antennas cover the popular Wi-Fi bands, namely the 2.4 GHz & 5 to 6 GHz bands with varying gains.

The HELI antennas are typically used for the deployment of IoT within the tunnel to provide telemetry and mining automation.

The HELI series comes in varying sizes depending on the deployment requirements. The robust mechanical enclosure design of the HELI series features an IP65 rating which ensures that the antennas are weather, dust and vandal resistant making them suitable for harsh environments.

OMNI-700-SERIES

OMNI DIRECTIONAL WI-FI ANTENNA

The OMNI-700 series antennas, form part of our latest “POYNTING Rhyno” antenna range and offer a small profile antenna for use in the IoT/M2M, Smart Meter, Smart Utilities, and Industrial markets.

The OMNI-700 antenna series offers various configurations for covering the popular Wi-Fi frequency bands namely, the 2.4 GHz and 5 to 6 GHz bands with gains varying from 4 to 8 dBi. The OMNI-700 series antennas were specifically designed to be rugged and ideal for operation in harsh environmental conditions.

The series features an IP69K protection rating, which indicates that the antennas are dustproof and protected against high pressure, high temperature spray downs at close range. It also features an IK10 impact rating, making the antennas ideal for industrial IoT/M2M and mining applications.

PUCK-SERIES

OMNI-DIRECTIONAL ANTENNA

POYNTING’s PUCK series offers a small profile antenna for use in the commercial & industrial markets. The PUCK series offers a variety of options for MIMO LTE/5G (617 to 4200 MHz), MIMO Wi-Fi (dual band 2.4 GHz & 5 to 6 GHz) and GPS/GLONASS within the same enclosure, while keeping implementation as simple as possible with its many mounting options.

Due to the excellent engineering and solid design, the PUCK series provides exceptional performance for its small size. The PUCK-series has a small and low-profile design with dimensions Ø100 mm x 36 mm. They were designed to be rugged and ideal for operation in the farming & agricultural environment.

The PUCK series features an IP68 ingress protection rating, which indicates that it is dust and water ingress protected. The series also features an IK10 impact rating, adding to the ruggedness of the series.
